Injection Mold Base Design: 24 Practical Configurations from Basic to Advanced

When we talk about mold base design, we’re not just picking a standard 2525 or 3535 frame from a catalog. The real work starts when you decide how the plates, pillars, and guide pins interact under cyclic loading. Another configuration we rely on is the “double-ejector” layout, where a first-stage hydraulic cylinder pushes the part 15 mm off the core, and then a mechanical knockout bar takes over—this is critical for tall bosses with 1.2 mm internal threads. One thing that separates a decent mold from a durable one is the treatment of the guide pins and bushings in these 24 layouts.
