DMC Earns "2023 Shanghai Outstanding Exhibition" Honor as Mold Industry Benchmark
Shanghai's mold sector just got a well-deserved nod of recognition, with the Die & Mold China (DMC) exhibition being named a "2023 Shanghai Outstanding Exhibition" by the Shanghai Exhibition Industry Association.

The award, announced in early 2024, comes after a rigorous selection process that saw 99 exhibitions vying for the title across the city's major venues. These events collectively covered over 9.9 million square meters of exhibition space, representing more than 60% of all exhibition area in Shanghai last year. The judging criteria went beyond sheer size, weighing factors like international participation, innovation highlights, and industry ranking. Out of that pool, only 55 shows earned the "Outstanding" label, and DMC's inclusion puts it in an elite group of trade fairs that actually move the needle for their industries.

For those of us in the mold trade, this recognition isn't just a plaque on the wall. DMC has long been the go-to platform where toolmakers, mold designers, and equipment suppliers converge to showcase the latest in precision machining, hot runner systems, and smart manufacturing solutions. The award reflects a broader trend: Shanghai is doubling down on becoming a global exhibition hub, as outlined in the city's 2023-2025 action plan for high-quality exhibition economy development. For mold makers, this means more international buyers walking the aisles, more cross-border tech exchanges, and a stronger signal that China's mold industry is no longer just a low-cost supplier but a serious player in high-end tooling innovation.

Looking ahead, the real value of such recognition lies in what it unlocks. As DMC gains official clout, expect more European and Japanese mold technology firms to bring their latest automation and digital twin solutions to Shanghai. For domestic mold SMEs, that's a golden opportunity to benchmark against global standards without leaving the country. The award also pressures organizers to keep raising the bar—better matchmaking, more data-driven insights, and tighter integration with downstream automotive and electronics sectors. In a trade where precision matters, this kind of industry validation is worth its weight in hardened steel.
